I don't want to bum you out or anything. I'm sure you were expecting to see a super dope For Love and Lemons set or some new thing you've never heard of, but no.
The sexiest thing you can bring to your boudoir shoot is.....your most confident self!
Me being blunt: have you ever encountered someone who didn't appear as someone you'd be friends with, but you liked them anyway or at least listened to whatever they had to say? It's probably because they were confident. They were not nervous or looking down or quiet or scared. They woke up and said "I'm gonna kick ass today."
Change your mindset. Everyone has insecurities, but if you pretend they're not there, no one else will notice them. Confidence comes from within and it must be practiced over and over until it sticks with you. I know it's hard, but try it! Some people are born with it, other's work at it. If you believe in you, so will others. You need to embrace what you have and own it.
For the record, every. single. person. I've photographed has walked in really nervous. They aren't sure exactly what to expect. They're worried if the make up artist will deliver. Then they have to be almost naked in front of me?! That sounds scary. ---In reality, it's not! I use the BEST make up artist in KC. I literally don't even notice you're wearing less clothing than normal. If anything, I'm about to ask where you got that piece! I'm not judging you. I'm honestly focused on your face, your expression, your posture, and trying to keep those knees and elbows bent. Clients have told me at the end of their session, "That was so fun! I was worried for nothing. Not scary at all." Then they see their photos and oooo + ahhhh over them! My favorite part.
Once we get through the first outfit, clients get real comfortable real quick. They move easier, they take direction better, they're just more relaxed and confident. So bring a few pieces that make you feel pretty, know that you are pretty, maybe throw in a pair of strappy black heels, and I'll take care of the rest.
